[Devotional]: Bible Verses To Combat Worry and Doubt

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.

1 Corinthians 16:13

Many things can happen in our lives that cause us to worry and doubt.

There were times when I felt like no matter the amount of time and energy I spent making sure I kept in contact with others, creating fun learning lessons with the kids, or planning time to spend with my husband, I felt like I fell short. I tend to doubt that I’m not a good enough mom, wife, friend, and sister. I tend to overcompensate sometimes, which leads me to become extremely overwhelmed and burnt out.

When the thought of falling short, or being inadequate, attempts to take root inside of my mind, I instantly ask God for help. I quote encouraging scriptures to see that God is always here with me and doesn’t give us more than we can bear.

Although you want to give in to the fear and negative thoughts roaming around inside your mind, take the time to pray and do your best to better the situation. What has been troubling you? What’s getting in the way of you seeing the goodness that God has placed before you? Boldly go to God, and seek his guidance.

I want to share a list of helpful scriptures in times of trouble and doubt. Refer to this list whenever the feelings of worry and uncertainty are too much to bear:

Psalm 56:16 – “But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.”

Exodus 15:2 – “The LORD is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.”

2 Timothy 1:7 – “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

1 Corinthians 16:13 – “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”

Isaiah 40:29 – “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
